We all can agree that empaths have some of the most wonderful qualities that stand out more when compared to others.
Learning more about these abilities and what is required to master them can greatly aid you in almost all aspects of your life. These include building compassion and developing a connection to the world and all that directly revolves around you.
Being an empath and not knowing about this gift can greatly weaken your body and can turn this gift into a curse because you are largely effected by emotions and energy of your surroundings.
Without the proper knowledge, and protection from such you will be prone to incessant pain, rollercoaster emotions and constant exhaustion
An empath who has learned to master their traits are virtually unstoppable. So how can you go from being an overwhelmed empath to a skilled empath?
Learning to understand when you are in the burdened phase
Most of us hit this zone while just learning about these special abilities. This being the phase when you feel like your sensitivity is something of a burden, a deficiency and that you are different from everyone else.
You’ve most certainly felt that you are more sensitive and even more emotional than others, which is something I break down further in another article regarding empath and addictions.
The more you fight this feeling because you want to be like other people will leave you at odds greatly with your identity and embracing who you are.
At this time you may have just discovered that you may be an empath, or just feel you are different. What you need to do is surrender, and not resist everything you are feeling.
Learning to observe
After you allow yourself to feel all the pains and emotions you experience (consciously) Its time that you learn to do some observations about the emotions you’re feeling and the triggers in particular that led to them in the first place.
For example, your anxiety may become so overwhelming that it affects your ability to do anything. To observe emotions and allow it to come and go freely without becoming attached to them is not an easy task
Your Basic Self Care Phase
Now that you have chosen to embrace them and realized that trying to resist these emotions is useless. It’s now time to move on to taking better care of yourself. This kind of care is useful within all sorts of problems not just being an empath or not.
Armed with being more aware of what is driving these emotions you can now take better care in avoiding overly stimulating environments and even people. Even making time to escape or knowing that you don’t have to remain committed to putting yourself in these situations.
Make sure to take time to digest these emotions and sensitivities.
Energy Healing Phase
Simply avoid most triggers for an empath is not enough. There are still many things you will come into contact with that can leave you emotionally raw at times and situations where you will have to go no matter what.
Learning practices to restore that energy is crucial, practicing meditation and shielding techniques will help you to protect yourself from negative energy and keep it out of your space.
Training and gaining control of your empathy
Living with empathy is no easy feat, now that you are aware of your empathy it is time to use your ability without effecting your own conditions.
Practicing how you respond to others’ energy and your sensitivities becomes a process of reprogramming your subconscious. This is not an easy task but will help you to understand and grasp the feelings of being an empath even helping to put you at ease and less overwhelmed when you’re in crowds.
Now you will start to have a better understanding of other people’s energy without becoming exhausted, you will have better control over your ability to help others.
Gaining clarity and understanding
Gaining clarity in your ability will help you to become less overwhelmed and you can start to sense other’s emotions without the need to take on one of those emotions. You may feel the need to go deeper on those emotions to see if there is anything you can do to help.
At this point, you have a pretty good idea and are able to differentiate between your emotions and the emotions of others. You’ll absorb less energy while being more aware of the energy in your surroundings, empathy is a way of life and you will always have to continually check yourself and release those energies that don’t belong to you.
